Job Description:
Reporting to the General Superintendent the Working Foreperson leads a bridge crew while actively performing hands-on construction work. This role is responsible for safe daily execution, crew productivity, quality workmanship, and short-interval planning. The Working Foreperson organizes labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractor interfaces for assigned work areas, ensures compliance with drawings and specifications, and maintains site documentation and communication required to keep work progressing efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and supervise a field crew while contributing hands-on to meet daily production goals

Plan, assign, and clearly communicate daily tasks, expectations, and constraints

Monitor workmanship, safety, and productivity; coach crew through training and problem-solving

Enforce safety compliance, hazard identification, PPE use, and conduct toolbox talks

Support look-ahead planning for labour, equipment, materials, and access needs

Track labour/equipment usage, maintain daily records, and report variances to the Superintendent

Ensure work meets drawings, specifications, and quality standards; verify layout and escalate issues

Execute and oversee bridge construction activities while maintaining documentation and stakeholder communication
Required Knowledge & Experience:

5+ years of bridge/heavy civil construction experience with leadership responsibility in the field.

Demonstrated ability to lead crews, plan daily work, and deliver safe, high-quality results under schedule pressure.

Strong working knowledge of bridge construction methods including formwork, rebar, concrete placement, demolition, structural work, and rehabilitation.

Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction procedures.

Strong safety leadership and understanding of high-risk activities including lifting/rigging, work at heights, traffic exposure, and concrete operations.

Proficiency with basic field documentation including daily reports, timekeeping support, production tracking, and photo documentation.

Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to operate small tools and equipment relevant to crew work.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.

Gold Seal Foreperson certification or equivalent considered an asset.
